About Oceans and Coasts

Oceans and Coasts is one of the branches of the Department of Environmental Affairs. It is headed up by Deputy Director-General, Dr Monde Mayekiso. :

Oceans and Coast aims to promote, manage and provide strategic leadership on ocean and coastal conservation.

• The Functions are to Provide strategic leadership in respect of ocean and coastal conservation..

• Provide institutional leadership and overall management of the branch.

• Manage the synergistic relationship between stakeholders.  

• Provide strategic leadership in respect of oceans and coastal research, strategies and polices..
