BIOSPHERES
In South Africa, the term "biosphere" is used to describe areas of conservation value where a group of landowners, such as farmers, provincial authorities or the state have combined forces to have an area declared a conservancy, a natural protected area or an area of unique ecological value. These areas are under the management of the landowners who manage the resources of the area in a sustainable manner. The biospheres may also have significant scientific or other resource value. The more common and international definition describes the biosphere as an entity that constitutes all living organisms that occur on earth.
