Economy
The last decade has seen a number of forces combining to fundamentally change economic development in the CMA, giving it the edge over the more established growth regions in Gauteng, the Eastern Cape and Natal. The CMA has been able to utilise its unique physical advantages to capitalise on increased foreign investor interest and the growth of the tourism industry. Spectacular scenic beauty and exceptional natural diversity greatly contribute to the emergence of tourism.

 

Issues
In order to provide a detailed description of the state of the environment, the focus has been to identify and examine specific issues within an overall theme in order to examine the state and pressures on each of these issues more thoroughly.
