Environmental Governance
Metropolitan environmental management is important in influencing human behaviour in relation to the environment, with specific reference to the activities and areas of jurisdiction of metropolitan government. In terms of the Constitution (Act 108 of 1996), environmental management is a functional area of concurrent responsibility for both national and provincial government. This function can be delegated to local government by the provincial government.
