About the CMA
Waste
Rapid urbanisation and urban growth is resulting in the generation of increasing amounts of solid and liquid hazardous and non- hazardous waste. These wastes require land-filling, incineration or treatment in the metropole and consequently cause air and water pollution as well as posing a health risk. Of the waste being generated in the CMA, the largest percentage is domestic waste from municipalities.

Note that domestic waste collection services are addressed in Infrastructure.
