Seekoeivlei Photo Gallery

Previous landowners dug drainage channels through the wetland in an attempt to make the area suitable for agriculture. Once the value of Seekoeivlei as a functional wetland had been recognised, Rand Water and Free State Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism began a project to rehabilitate the wetland. This was accomplished by constructing gabbions across the drainage channels in order to reflood the drained areas.
