 Thursday, 02 Feb 2012:Today marks the 15th anniversary of the commemoration of World Wetlands Day since the inaugural celebration in 1997 and most importantly the 41th anniversary of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands since it’s signing in 1971. So far, wetlands continue to offer great value for biodiversity which human beings depend on for their livelihood.

MINISTER OF WATER AND ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS, EDNA MOLEWA, WELCOMES THE SENTENCING OF RHINO POACHERS

 Wednesday, 01 Feb 2012:The Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Ms Edna Molewa, today welcomed the Phalaborwa Regional Court’s decision to sentence three rhino poachers to a maximum of 25 years imprisonment on various counts.

 Friday, 27 Jan 2012:The Deputy Ministers of Water and Environmental Affairs and the Department of Tourism, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi and Ms Thokozile Xasa, respectively, will lead South Africa’s World Wetlands Day 2012 celebrations at Makuleke Village in the Limpopo province on Thursday, 02 February 2012.
