2010 INTERNATIONAL YEAR of BIODIVERSITY
"BIODIVERSITY IS OUR FUTURE" |
|
Introduction
As we celebrate the birth of a milestone year in the evolution of Humanity, Biodiversity is Life is the mission of all of Mankind to preserve life on Earth. It is the beginning of an environmental revolution to sustain all life on Earth.
The Human Race is an integral part of nature, which is part and parcel of the Biodiversity.
Our survival as the human race relies on this diversity of life to provide us with food, fuel, medicine and other essentials that humanity simply cannot live without. Yet this rich diversity is being lost at a greatly accelerated rate because of human activities.
By 2030, we would require 2 planet Earths to meet our present consumption patterns. This impoverishes us all and weakens the ability of the Life systems, on which we depend, to resist growing threats such as global change.
2010 is the International Year of Biodiversity, and people all over the world are mobilizing to safeguard this irreplaceable natural wealth and reduce loss of life. This is vital for current and future human well being.
