The Directorate Compliance Monitoring has been established in order to monitor the compliance with prioirtised environmental quality and protection legislation, regulations, authorizations and applied enforcement instruments – and to develop and oversee national systems for such monitoring.

A project has been initiated to develop the structures, systems and capacity required by the Directorate. This project is being led by Palmer Development Group (PDG) and commenced in October 2005. It will run for a period of 18 months.

The project team will work with DEAT to develop required systems and processes for the compliance monitoring of:

  • Air quality Management
  • Waste management
  • Environmental Impact Assessments
  • Environmental Emergency Incidents
