29°41' E)
is situated north of the coastal town of Port St Johns on the Transkei coast of the Eastern Cape. This system drains a catchment area of approximately 280 sq. km. Approximately 41% of the catchment land-cover in the Mzintlava system comprised agriculture. Most of this was subsistence farming with some permanent commercial dryland agriculture and forestry. About 3% of the catchment comprised degraded bushland and grassland. Natural grassland, forest, and bushland accounted for approximately 55% of the catchment land-cover. Roughly 1% of the catchment comprised residential (rural) development.
