Mission:
  1. To guide the development and protection of the coastal and marine environment and resources, to improve the quality of life of people through responsible management.
  2. To ensure sustainable utilization of resources.
  3. To encourage sustainable development for which the immediate priority is poverty eradication.
  4. To focus on employment creation as a priority over historical, traditional and recreational claims.
  5. To ensure that the country's economic stability is not prejudiced by undermining the viability of any catching sector.
