To facilitate effective communication between the Department of Environmental Affairs & Tourism
and the relevant target groups, as well as to facilitate effective communication within the department.

To promote public awareness on policies and the activities of the department.
To empower target groups with information in an accessible way to enable them to manage their environment.
To promote the image of the department.
Functions:
Media liaison.
Produce and distribute publications, annual reports and information materials.
Writing and issuing press statements.
Speech writing.
Organizing press conferences and departmental events.
Develop and implement a communication and marketing strategy and service.
Promote the corporate image and identity of the department.
Media monitoring.
Establish and maintain an environmental information helpdesk.
