Functions:
- Co-ordinating environmental learning in existing curricula and programmes through support for initiatives such as IBEE (Industry and Business Environmental Education forum) and EECI (Environmental Education Curriculum Initiative).
- Influencing the setting of environmental learning standards and the development of environmental qualifications through SAQA (South African Qualifications Authority) and the ESGI (Environmental Standards Generating Initiative).
- Establishing environmental forums in provinces.
- Developing relevant resource material and maintaining an efficient information system.
