Role:

To render a meteorological service.

Vision:

The vision of the Weather Bureau is to achieve standards of service delivery comparable to world norms, which in harmony with the environment, will affect positively on the social and economic upliftment of all the people of South Africa.

Mission:
  • to strive to provide a cost effective and efficient meteorological service;
  • to contribute to the protection of life and property;
  • to help safeguard the environment and support sustainable development;
  • to ensure the continuity of meteorological and related data and to be the national custodian of climatological data.
  • to meet relevant international commitments and to improve international co-operation in meteorology.
