Impact of the 1999 State of the Environment Report

In 1999, several National State of Environment products were developed and disseminated which include a web based National State of Environment Report (NSOER), printed overview documents in Zulu, Sepedi and Afrikaans, a booklet for schools and a video. Since then, several provincial, local and sector-specific reports have been published.

The Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEAT) initiated a study to determine whether the 1999 NSOER and related products reached target audiences, whether the report fulfilled the need of decision-makers and other users and to determine which of the related products add value to the suite of SOE products.
