Environmental Household Survey

In a joint venture between DEAT and Statistics South Africa, the July 2003 Annual General Household Survey undertaken by Statistics South Africa will include an environmental component to the survey. This survey is conducted to allow the detailed analysis of social and economic characteristics associated with household environmental practices as well as spatial analysis at the sub-provincial level.

The environmental component on the questionnaire contains more than 20 question. Some 30 000 households will be surveyed using a stratified random sample. Results are expected to be available in November 2003.
