The Public Participation Process

Integrated and inter-governmental management and communication is critical for the successful implementation of the Priority Area Air Quality Management Plan in the Vaal Triangle. The Air Quality Officer’s Forum will act as the steering committee of the project and that their role will both be in an advisory capacity but also to develop skills and capacity for implementing the plan. Interested and Affected parties will be largely informed and their participation is deemed critical, especially through the Multi-Stakeholder Representative Group that comprises representative stakeholders in the area.

Announcing the Opportunity for Comment

About (amount) stakeholders will receive this Background Information Document (BID) together with a letter addressed to them personally, asking for their comment. Also advertisements, inviting stakeholders to register as interested and affected parties were published in the names newspapers between date and date.
A workshop to announce the project and to provide stakeholders with the opportunity to comment is proposed for date. If you are interested in attending this workshop, please complete the comment/reply sheet.
Please note, all project documents will be made available on the DEAT’s website (www.deat.gov.za).

Your Comments are Important

Stakeholders can comment in writing, by telephone or by attending meetings as indicated in the process diagram on page?? Documents such as the Baseline Characterisation findings, Air Quality Management system Design, Emission Reduction Program and the draft Air Quality Management Plan will be distributed to stakeholders for their comments.

Feedback to Stakeholders

After each project milestone, stakeholders will be provided with feedback on progress made and the proposed next steps.
