24 July 2018
The Department of Environmental Affairs will on 26 and 27 July 2018 host the Third Biodiversity Research and Evidence Indaba in Pretoria.
The Indaba, being held under the theme “Celebrating 25 years of biodiversity science and its progress towards policy, practice, people interface” will focus on progress on the implementation plan in particular issues relating to successes and barriers within the biodiversity research sector. The two-day Indaba will take into consideration that this year the sector is celebrating 25 years of action for biodiversity science and its progress towards policy, practice, people interface.
The 2018 Indaba key focal areas that are also aligned to the domestication of the Sustainable Development Goals and the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans are:

- Rehabilitation and restoration (with a specific focus on Alien Invasive species)
- Species of special concern (with a specific focus on Elephant Management)
