Meeting between Department of Environmental Affairs and Sasol
08 October 2014
Representatives of the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) today met with representatives of South African multinational energy and chemicals company SASOL. The without prejudice meeting was chaired by Minister of Environmental Affairs, Mrs. Edna Molewa. Representatives from the DEA’s Climate Change and Air Quality branch and legal department were also present.
Compliance around DEA’s Minimum Emission Standards (published in October 2012) was among the issues discussed. The DEA is committed to the principles of sustainable development, environmental protection, and accessible government. Similarly, SASOL expressed its commitment to sustainable development. In this regard we remain open to engaging with industry on all issues within the department’s mandate.
