Minister Molewa invites public to comment on the draft policy of boat-based whale & dolphin watching and white shark cage diving

The Minister of Environmental Affairs, Mrs Edna Molewa has on 17 February 2017, published in Government Notices 145 and 146 in Government Gazette No.40626 draft policies on boat-based whale watching and on white shark cage diving, for public comments. These are policies in terms of the Marine Living Resources Act, 1998 (Act No. 18 of 1998). They build up on the initial policies on boat-based whale watching and white shark cage diving.

The policies aim to effectively achieve priorities highlighted in the National Development Plan 2030, as it relates to non-consumptive marine activities contributing to the economy. This includes increasing the benefit of our natural resources to reduce inequality and contribute to an inclusive economy.

The Minister invites any person to submit written comments on the draft policies within 30 days of the publication of the notice in the Government Gazette, to the following address:
