Minister Edna Molewa to visit Ennis Thabong Primary School in Hartbeespoort
10 March 2017
The Minister of Environmental Affairs, Dr Edna Molewa will visit Ennis Thabong Primary School in Hartbeespoort on Monday 13 March 2017. The visit forms part of the Minister’s community service program, dubbed “Help a child walk a mile project,” through which she will hand over school shoes, uniforms and stationary to the pupils.
With winter approaching, the Minister was alerted to the fact that most school kids in the identified school literally walk to school barefoot, prompting the Minister to extend a helping hand to the affected pupils. Children from Sunway, Afsaal and Ten Rooms informal settlements will benefit from this initiative. “Walking barefoot to school should remain in the past” says Molewa.
In 2013, Minister Molewa officially opened a new computer laboratory and promised to return to asses if the school is using the equipment optimally. At that time, the Minister also handed over newly built toilets for use by learners and educators.
The Minister’s visit to Ennis Thabong Primary School is a continuous commitment to execute initiatives that would create conducive learning environment and improve learners’ health and state of mind.
