Deputy Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries to hand-over certificates and sewing machines to Youth Environmental Service (Yes) graduates in Marble Hall

06 August 2019

The Deputy Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries, Ms Maggie Sotyu, will hand over certificates and sewing machines to 124 graduates who participated in Department’s Youth Environmental Service (YES) programme where they completed their clothing, textile, footwear and leather manufacturing L2 training in Marble Hall, Limpopo.

The youth graduates come from the Lepelle-Nkumi and Ephraim Mogale Local Municipalities. The graduates were enrolled in a two-year programme and were provided with activities and interventions which provide environmental services that benefit the communities.

The YES programme is implemented through the Department’s Environmental Programs (EP) with the objective of addressing the challenges of youth unemployment by providing them with accredited life skills that emphasize three pillars, namely community development service, accredited learning and skills.

The YES programme prioritizes and targets young women, youth with disabilities, unemployed youth, youth in rural areas, youth at risk, youth heading households, youth in conflict with the law, youth abusing dependency on drugs and alcohol and youth subjected to all forms of abuse.
