MEC Sekoati to handover a waste transfer station in Lepelle Nkumpi Municipality

Waste transfer stationThe MEC for Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Mr Seaparo Sekoati, will, on behalf of the Deputy Minister of Environmental Affairs, Ms Barbra Thomson, handover a Waste Transfer Station on Thursday 23 June 2016 at Mathibela Village (Zebediela), Lepelle Nkumpi Local Municipality, Limpopo Province.

The department through its Environmental Protection and Infrastructure Programme (EPIP) funded the construction of the waste transfer station project in Limpopo Province using labour intensive methods as per the requirements of Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), with key objectives beingenvironmental preservation, skills and small businesses development as well as job creation.

The project was implemented within the Working on Waste focus area commenced in February 2015 and was completed in December 2015 with the following deliverables: construction of the transfer station platform, guard house, paving and palisade fence. A total of 76 employment opportunities were created for the locals in Zebediela.
