Submission dates for permit application to conduct white shark cage diving, boat based whale and dolphin watching operations

On  14 June 2017, The Chief Director: Specialist Monitoring Services of the Department of Environmental Affairs invited applications for permits to conduct  boat-based whale and dolphin watching and white shark cage diving.

The Department will soon embark on a process for collection of completed applications with regard to permit(s) to conduct a boat-based whale and dolphin watching and white shark cage diving operations.

Prospective applicants wishing to submit applications for permit(s) must visit the centres listed in the table below. Thus, applications for permits to conduct boat-based whale and dolphin watching and white shark cage diving operations will only be accepted at the following times and places:

Please note that applicants must submit a separate application form for each area applied for, but will only be required to pay one application fee (non-refundable application fee of R9 123, 00 (Nine Thousand One Hundred and Twenty Three Rands)) regardless of the number of applications submitted in a particular sector. Applicants applying for both BBWW and WSCD permits will be required to pay the application fee for each sector.

Applicants will be required to submit one original application including annexures and one copy of the application. The application must be clearly marked original and copy.

Application for a permit regardless of the area applied for will be accepted at all centres including Sodwana Bay. Applications for a concession to operate within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park will only be received by iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority.
