Request for previously disadvantaged individuals with access to land to register in database of biodiversity economy programme
The wildlife and bioprospecting / biotrade sectors have experienced noticeable growth over the years, making a contribution to the agricultural Gross Domestic Product and employment statistics of the country. It is the aspiration of the Department of Environmental Affairs to ensure that these economic sectors remain inclusive, sustainable, responsive and provide foundation for social well-being of all South Africans.
Previously disadvantaged individuals and communities who have access to land with potential for game farming or where game farming already exist; communities or individuals with notable populations and distributions of indigenous plants, nurseries of indigenous plant and/or processing facilities are requested to register in the database of the Department of Environmental Affairs.
This is not a call for proposals but rather an effort by the DEA to determine the number of Previously Disadvantaged Individuals actively involved in or inspiring to participate in the wildlife and bioprospecting/ biotradesectors that require support.
